Honorable Billy Joel

Bio

“Giving back” has always been a priority in the life of Hon. Billy Joel, and his charitable outreaches have spanned the globe. From the Israel Sport Center for the Disabled where he and his wife Sandra spearheaded the construction of new dressing rooms for 2,500 disabled children, to the Jack Joel School for Special Children in New York serving almost 500 physically and intellectually disabled children, Billy Joel’s name has become synonymous with “giving back” to those in need.

Here in South Florida, he has been honored and recognized by many charities and organizations, such as Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, as a member of the Board of Trustees, and the Aventura Turnberry Jewish Center where he serves as Vice President. Under his leadership as President of the Aventura Marketing Council’s Anchors Away Foundation, 39 special-access sailboats now give over 1,000 physically and intellectually disabled children the opportunity to experience freedom on the water that they don’t have on land.
